Earth Environmental Monitoring
Boreal: A continuous record of polar change.
Boreal coordinates observations of snow, ice and seasonal conditions, with attention to the continuity of long environmental records.

Scientific purpose
Polar measurements are affected by seasonal coverage, illumination, surface conditions and instrument characteristics. Boreal combines repeat observations with station records and comparison methods that make these effects explicit.
Observing approach
Teams compare remote imagery, local measurements and instrument metadata. Campaign records identify gaps and distinguish an observed interval from an inferred condition between measurements.
Interpretation and limits
A long series can contain changes in equipment and sampling. Boreal retains those transitions and reports where comparisons require additional qualification. It does not turn incomplete coverage into a continuous measurement.
